George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Remembering Serene Helen Lovro

Serene Helen Lovro, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 'date'. She was 82 years old. Born on May 30, 1941, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Soren and Olga Raunholm, Serene grew up here and received her education at Washington High School and Augustana College.

Serene is survived by her four children, Jeff Lovro of Linn Creek, Missouri; Linda Lovro (Dennis) Camdenton, Missouri; Janet Lovro-Miller (Mona) of Tacoma, Washington; and Doug Lovro (Michelle) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Clay (Marissa) Lovro, Deven (fiancé Tianna) Lovro, Seth (fiancé Cassie Finkbeiner) Van Wyk, Logan (Chloe) Van Wyk, and Rebecca (Tristan) Straw; as well as one great-granddaughter, Ava Lovro. Additionally, Serene had many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her.

Throughout her life, Serene was an active member of her church community at East Side Lutheran Church, where she met and married Luther Lovro on June 17, 1961. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and were blessed with four children. Serene spent many years working at Lakeside Dairy before retiring.

In addition to spending time with her family, Serene loved going shopping and dining out with friends and community members. She also enjoyed traveling and took a memorable trip to Norway with Luther. Her friendships meant the world to her, and she was always up for an adventure.

Serene is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A lifetime member of East Side Lutheran Church, Serene was also a devoted member of her community.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 18 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls on Friday, January 'date', with Pastor Layne Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
